2018 could be an important years for composer duo Ajay-Atul. Though they have been ruling the Marathi film industry for years, one has not heard their music as often as one would have liked to in Hindi films. Things are about to change as they have three big Hindi releases this year. Apart from the Hindi remake of 'Sairat', the music of which they had composed themselves, they also have a Shah Rukh Khan ('Zero') and an Aamir Khan film ('Thugs Of Hindostan') in their kitty. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy who did not have a single release last year have multiple films lined up in the form of 'Manikarnika - The Queen Of Jhansi', 'Saaho', 'Gully Boys' and 'Soorma'. Here is our list of the most anticipated Hindi film albums of 2018.

Dhadak

Composer duo Ajay-Atul bagged several awards for their work in the Marathi blockbuster 'Sairat'. Now, with Karan Johar producing the Hindi remake 'Dhadak' and the film starring Sridevi's elder daughter Janhvi and Shahid Kapoor's half-brother Ishaan Khattar, the stakes are much higher and one waits to see whether Ajay-Atul will recreate the songs from the original Marathi or they will put together a completely fresh soundtrack for the remake.

Kedarnath

'Aryan - The Unbreakable', 'Rock On!!', 'Kai Po Che' and 'Fitoor', all the four films directed by Abhishek Kapoor have boasted of some terrific music. 'Kedarnath' will mark the third collaborative effort between composer Amit Trivedi and Kapoor. The fact that the film is a love story and serves as the launch pad for Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh's daughter Sara Ali Khan makes one looks forward to a good soundtrack in the offering.

Drive

Tarun Mansukhani's debut film 'Dostana' had a bunch of lively and peppy numbers composed by Vishal and Shekhar. Ten years later, the composer duo and the director join hands again for 'Drive', starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Jacqueline Fernandez. As it is an action thriller, one expects a highly energetic and peppy soundtrack.

Race 3

I am not a big fan of the soundtracks of 'Race' and 'Race 2' but given Tips, being a music company, has a very good track record of music in its films. Salman Khan's presence has upped the brand value of the film several notches higher and one expects Pritam to come up with a soundtrack that would compliment the vast scale of this action thriller.

Thugs Of Hindostan

The two films directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, 'Tashan' in partiular, had some good music and one has good enough reasons to expect a good album from his Amitabh Bachchan-Aamir Khan-Katrina Kaif starrer 'Thugs Of Hindostan'. Interestingly, Acharya never repeats his composers. For 'Tashan', he opted for Vishal and Shekhar, Pritam composed the 'Dhoom 2' album and now, for 'his third directorial venture, he has roped in Ajay-Atul.

Zero

Director Aanand L Rai's films (not taking in account 'Strangers' and 'Thodi Life Thoda Magic', his first two films) are known to have good songs. For 'Zero', his biggest film till date and one that stars Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma, he collaborates with Ajay-Atul for the first time and with lyricist Irshad Kamil for the second time after 'Raanjhanaa'. The teaser of the film has already raised curiosity and with the film being a small-town love story of a vertically challenged person, one expects a commercial album with an Indian sound in the offering.

Soorma

Regardless of their fate at the box-office, director Shaad Ali's films always give fans of Hindi film music some good reason tocheer about. 'Soorma' is the fourth time Ali and Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy have teamed up together after 'Bunty Aur Babli', 'Jhoom Barabar Jhoom' and 'Kill Dil'. As the film is a biopcof a sportsperson, one expects a host of inspirational tracks, a la, 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag'. As Taapsee Pannu is the leading lady and the film explores several aspects of hockey star Sandeep Singh's life, there would be, hopefully, some romantic numbers too.

Genius

Many of producer-director Anil Sharma's films have boasted of good music. As 'Genius' is a young love story that also serves as the debut of his son Utkarsh, the film is expected to carry a bunch of melodious songs. It will also be Himesh Reshammiya's first film as a composer in close to two years.

Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas

The film marks the debut of Karan Deol, Sunny Deol's son and as it is a romantic film set in the hills and features newcomers, the music is supposed to be the highlight of the film. Barring a few exceptions, movies produced under the banner of Vijeta Films are known for good music. The film features multiple composers including the likes of Parichay and Jasleen Royal who have a few hits to their credit in the recent past.

Simmba

Despite being commercial potboilers, Rohit Shetty's films have never been known for their music. But, things could be different this time as 'Simmba' is being co-produced by Karan Johar. Ranveer Singh stars in the titular role in this remake of Telugu hit 'Temper' and the film is scheduled for a festive release around Christmas. Under Karan's guidance, Rohit should be more cautious about the kind of songs that goes into the film this time around.

Manikarnika - The Queen Of Jhansi

A film on Rani Laxmibai starring Kangna Ranaut souds exciting. Histoical films tend to have a rich musical score. Prasoon Joshi, who has also written the film, have ha several successful collaborations with Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy in the past and given the fact that he serves both as a writer and a lyricist on this film, one feels he will be taking extra care of the way the music pans out.
